Javier Roldán

Partner · Litigation

Fifteen years defending operators before CIAIAC, commercial courts specialised in air transport and the contentious-administrative jurisdiction. He leads the firm's litigation and arbitration practice.

Career

Javier began his career at a generalist commercial firm, where he quickly specialised in disputes with a technical profile. After five years he decided to focus exclusively on aviation litigation, a field that combines law, engineering and operations. Since then, he has led the defence in more than forty criminal proceedings for professional aviation negligence.

In his current role he coordinates the firm's mass-claim defence under Regulation 261/2004, while also representing operators in international arbitrations (ICC, LCIA) and high-value sanctioning proceedings. He has a 96% success rate in sanctioning proceedings before AESA over the past five years.

A regular speaker at ICAM events on air navigation law and a guest lecturer in the Master's in Aviation Law at CEU San Pablo University. His procedural style combines technical rigour with expository clarity — something especially valued by judges who do not specialise in aviation.

"A good aviation litigator speaks the language of the pilot, the manufacturer and the judge. Without all three, a defence does not reach its destination." — Javier Roldán
